EVALUATE STAGE- PR Commercial Video

Your PR Commercial Video is done! Now you need to collect information and reflect to evaluate how successful the PR Commercial Video was against the original Challenge and Design Specifications. Finally, make suggestions for improvement.

The evidence of the evaluation will be a paper based on a) the process journal (group),  b) personal reflection (individual),  c) feedback form – feedback/survey.

Criterion A: Knowledge and Understanding 

   - You will need to demonstrate the areas of knowledge that have helped you to create a PR        Commercial Video.

   - You will need to show understanding of ‘PR Commercial Video’ in evaluating the data and      recommending improvements.

Criterion C: Application and Transfer 

   - You will need to create appropriate questions for the feedback survey in order to collect          useful data.

   - You will need to organize the survey in order to have it completed and returned in time.      - You will need to interpret the data and link it to the Challenge and Design Specifications.

 Criterion D: Personal Learning 

   - The survey gives you an opportunity to use data to reflect critically in   order to improve        your ‘creation’ (PR Commercial Video).

   - It is important to critically reflect on your participation throughout              the whole project.

   - Have you submitted the evaluation paper and process journal (Survey Report) (dates,      durations, events, evidences and explanations)?

Criterion E: Message 

   - Have you organized your Evaluation Paper to include all parts?

   - Does your Survey Report/Evaluation Paper clearly present the data, analysis, conclusion        and recommendations for improvement?

   - Have you included the complete elements in process journal (dates, durations, events,      evidences and explanations) that other people who can read can understand how you gone    through the evaluating stage process?

Task 1: Process Journal

Use the process journal form to document your progress in this stage of work.

Task 2: Personal Reflection

As a final part to the whole project write a personal reflection (individual).

I found this project very useful, since I learned a lot in the Investigation stage and managed my time and planned the whole process of creating the PR Commercial well, so that I could submit my work and get a good grade. I was able to use the knowledge I collected in other subjects as well and all in all I’d say that I learned a whole lot I did not know about before.

Create 5 guiding questions for yourself.  

Use 5 of the questions below. Write your responses with explanations   Answer question # 6 to round off this Reflection. 

  1. If you had more resources available, like actors, would you have stuck with this idea?
    - I most likely would’ve stuck with the idea, but I also would’ve liked to incorporate more people, since it is a school and people may or may make the commercial seem more trustworthy.

  2. Do you think the project would’ve turned out nicer if you had more time?

  • No, actually I think time wouldn’t have made a big difference, since I like this idea very much and besides, what use does time have if you do not know how to use it or do not have the necessary skill and props?

  •

  • Do you think anyone, even someone who has no experience with IMovie or Movie Maker could make a PR Commercial?

  • Yes, the software I used, Movie Maker is very easy to use. One can learn how within hours. The only thing that might be troublesome could be the videotaping, since you actually need a little experience with that to get good footage.

  • Do you think it could’ve been easier/ nicer if you made one of your other designs?

  • I don’t think it would’ve been particularly easier, but it might’ve turned out nicer if I made design/ storyboard 1, since it involves peoples’ opinions.

  • Do you think you could’ve done better than this?

  • Not really, since I applied all of my skills. I dislike working with movie maker because of the transitions and effects.

  1. Which part of the project “PR Commercial video”, did you like doing the best? Explain why.

- Filming the school, since I really got to use my creativity.

2. What factors contribute to designing and planning in the project “PR Commercial video”?

                - Being organized and planning your time and materials well ahead of the filming and editing

3. Which parts of the design cycle have you found most useful in solving this project “PR Commercial video”? Please explain why.

                - Investigation stage, since I learned a lot about making videos in general and gathered a lot of knowledge on what and what not to do

4. Which stage of the design cycle do you think you need to work on the most to improve? How would you do this?

- Create stage, since I planned everything well and did a lot of research, I’d just like to be able to apply more of my skills.

5. By completing this Challenge-PR Commercial Video, has it helped you think about organization in general? Are you going reflect about some of your other organization practices? If not, why not? If so, what do you plan to do?!   It made me organize myself better, making the create stage easier.

6. Have your final comment to round off this Reflection about the project “PR Commercial video”? Use it.

All in all, I think this project was quite successful, since I learned a lot and got to apply that newly gained knowledge in the creating stage.

Task 3: Survey/Feedback

Feedback depends on the Survey and should be based on the Design Specification you set in this project.

Reflection:

In this stage I found out what I could do better when doing a project similar to this, by writing reflections, asking and answering guiding question and analyzing responses of a survey I created. I learned that maybe I should make a more elaborate voice over rather than having a short text, since it's just nicer to look at. Also, I should improve on the video quality since that's been mentioned in by the other students in the "Improvement" part of my survey. All in all I think I did an ok job, meaning I didn't hate the final video, nor did I really like it.

Introduction:

This is the Evaluating and therefore final stage of the design cycle for my PR Commercial. On this page I will be reflecting on the process of making the commercial and the video itself. Asking and answering guiding question, writing reflections and making surveys, I will be evaluated by myself and my classmates.

Conclusion:

To improve my video, I have to use better transitions from Window's Movie Maker, take better picture and video quality and work harder on my voiceovers, making them longer and more elaborate to avoid subtitles, according to the survey I conducted.

Recommendations:

My school mates that filled out my survey recommended that I improve the quality of my pictures and videos used in the commercial. I think I will do this by maybe slowing down when walking around while video recording my surroundings and to take pictures from different angles, rather than just straight from the front. I also should make a longer voice over to avoid having the audience read a long and tedious text. Adding more details about our school and therefore making my video longer would also improve my commercial, according to my schoolmates. Other than that there's not much the other students complained about.
